Unlike most metals that have gray or silvery white colors, gold has a reddish yellow color. Combining gold with other elements creates various alloys that have different colors. Except for copper, which is red in color, other metals that are added to gold are white or gray in color. The color of pure gold with 99.9% purityor 24 carat gold is reddish yellow.
In general, impure gold is divided into three categories in terms of color.

Colored gold is less pure than 24 carat gold. Nickel, palladium and platinum are strong whitening elements of gold color. Silver and zinc are in the next ranks.
